The Essential Beauty Serum!

Hello y’all!

So, I’ve been trying the Essential Beauty Serum for the past few weeks. I’m SO excited with the results! Also, I ordered more ART moisturizer…seriously, the greatest stuff I’ve ever put on my skin. I can’t put into words how much I love it. I can practically feel it absorbing instantly into my skin in a light, nourishing way.
1395308_10151756408067832_363712224_n

Let’s face it, most people love to pamper their skin with products that feel good. But, if you haven’t been paying attention to the ingredients in your beauty products, you should. Did you know that 60% of what you put on  your skin is absorbed into your bloodstream?

Over time, that’s a lot of gross junk that’s accumulating in our bodies. Also, there’s a big difference between putting something in your mouth and putting something on your skin. When you put something in your mouth, the enzymes in your stomach and saliva help with the breaking down of all the toxins. But when you put something on your skin, it doesn’t have those benefits and the toxins go directly into your organs through your bloodstream.

So, what’s the solution? Don’t put toxic products on your skin! I realize this isn’t always completely possible (natural makeup, for instance, can be REALLY expensive.) but what we can do, is put products that actually “feed” health to our skin and consequently to our bloodstream and organs. That’s why I use the ART System and now (EEEP!) the Essential Beauty Serum!

They’re good for my skin, all-natural and full of essential oils.

IMG_6391My nightly regimen consists of the following:

1) Wash makeup off with warm water, the ART Cleanser and a make-up removing cloth. Pat skin dry.
2) Apply Essential Beauty Serum and/or Lavender to problem areas. If my skin is especially “acting up” I sometimes dab on a drop of Frankincense to those areas.
3) Gently, in a circular motion, apply the ART Night Reconstructor.

And, voila! It’s as simple as that! 🙂

{Also, several people have asked me about the “dry skin” label on the bottle. I have combination skin and I do not find the serum too oily for my skin at all. Often times, even with those who have oily skin, your skin just needs a healthy balance of oils. When it’s producing lots of oil, it could be because your skin actually is dry. All that aside, give it a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Don’t let the “dry skin” label scare you if you have combination or oily skin. }

What are YOUR favorite oils for beauty? Have you tried the Essential Beauty Serum yet?

givewaway

That’s ! A a 5ml bottle of  Young Living Therapeutic Grade Peppermint Essential Oil!

First off, it smells amazing. It can be diffused, taken internally, applied topically – it’s versatile and great for SO many different things. Peppermint has been studied by so many different scientists, as they’ve explored its many benefits!

Jean Valnet, MD studied peppermint’s supportive effect on the liver and respiratory systems. William N. Dember of the University of Cincinnati studied peppermint’s ability to improve concentration and mental sharpness. Alan Hirsch, MD, studied peppermint’s ability to directly affect the brain’s satiety center, which triggers a sensation of fullness after meals! And, according to a recent study in The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, peppermint oil may have a positive effect on exercise performance!

Here is a list of some of the many uses for Peppermint:

Asthma
Congestion
Alertness
Heartburn
Headaches
Constipation
Fever
Stress
Muscle Pain
Rheumatism
Refreshment
Nausea
Indigestion
Inflammation
Focus and Concentration
Energy Booster
Motion Sickness
Curbs Appetite
Freshens Breath
Relieves Snoring

Another priceless fact I just discovered is that it deters rodents, insects and spiders! I was thrilled to find this out – I’ve got to try that out for myself. 😉

Peppermint Tips from Young Living:

  • Rub one drop on the temples, forehead, over the sinuses (careful to avoid contact with your eyes), and on the back of the neck to relieve head pressure.*
  • Place 2 drops on the tongue and rub another drop of oil under the nose to help improve concentration and alertness.
  • Apply to the back of the neck and shoulders throughout the day to keep energy up.
  • Diffuse or inhale mid-morning to curb the desire to snack.

Christmas time is here…

It’s nearly Christmas (15 days & 13 hours – oh, yes.) and one of my favorite things about this time of year is the smell. Y’all know what I’m talking about – food, evergreens, wassail, eggnog, cinnamon, and so many more  scents!

I’ve got to be honest here – I let out my inner five-year-old at Christmas. Nothing makes me feel more wonderfully child-like as setting up a tree, admiring the lights, decorating Christmas cookies, and being with family during the most wonderful time of the year.

Unfortunately, this time of year also means a lot of synthetic scents. My Mom and I were out Christmas shopping the other day and we walked near the candle section in a store and I was practically knocked over (okay, not literally, but you get the idea.) by this fake gingerbread smell. Not only are the chemicals in those candles not good for you, but they can also cause headaches (as often happens to me). So, what’s the solution? You want all the yummy smells of Christmas without the chemicals?

I have several solutions for you!

First off, if you don’t have an essential oil diffuser, you need one! Read HERE about how you can get one by purchasing the Premium Starter Kit from Young Living, which automatically qualifies you for wholesale prices. The Premium Starter kit also includes eleven of Young Living’s most popular singles and blends, many of which are listed below. But, I’ll stop gushing and let you check out the link for yourself. 🙂

Are you ready to let these beautiful (healthy!) aromas fill your home with the joy of Christmas? Then, read on! (Please keep in mind that the following list is only really talking about the benefits these oils have when diffused – there are many more benefits when taken internally and used topically, but I’ll get into that another day!)

1.) Thieves This blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus & Rosemary is one of my favorites! Not only does it smell deliciously like Christmas time, but it is also loaded with many health benefits (for internal use and also beneficial when diffused into the air!). This blend is highly antibacterial and a great immune booster! We diffuse this one at my house whenever flu or cold season comes around, or when we detect a hint of sickness in the family!

2.) Peppermint Y’all know how delicious peppermint is, so imagine the scent of it drifting through your home! It is also great for “waking” you up when you’re feeling tired during a long afternoon. And if the crowds during Christmas shopping give you a headache, try rubbing a few drops on your temples and the back of your neck. This saved my mom and me from cutting our shopping trip short the other day. She had actually forgotten her oils, but remembered she had a sample of peppermint in her purse! We once again were so thankful for God’s gift of essential oils!

3.) Frankincense I’m sure y’all know that the wise men in the Bible brought Jesus Frankincense, Gold, & Myrrh, so how wonderful is it to be able to diffuse an oil from the Bible in your own home?! It smells wonderful and it’s been known to be a mood lifter & stress reliever when diffused.

4.) Myrrh It smells wonderful and promotes a peaceful feeling.

5.) Idaho Balsam Fir CHRISTMAS TREES. Yes, this is a favorite. Who doesn’t love the smell of Evergreen boughs during Christmas? It will cause your home to smell like a Winter Wonderland! It also is known to be a huge stress reliever! This is my grandmother’s favorite oil!

6.)  Idaho Blue Spruce Another evergreen-ish scent. Smells beautiful!

7.) Christmas Spirit is a delicious, uplifting blend of orange, cinnamon, and spruce essential oils. Get ready to diffuse and experience  the happiness and joy associated with the holiday season! This is a favorite in our home and we diffuse it often throughout December. We also make a homemade room spray with this by mixing 10-20 drops of oil in a spray bottle with water.

8.) Cinnamon Bark Cinnamon oil is anti-infectious, anti-bacterial, anti-parasitic, antiviral & Anti-fungal! In addition to that, it smells wonderful because, well, it’s cinnamon!

There you have it. Wonderful solutions to the chemical-laden norm during Christmas! My favorite oil during Christmas is Christmas Spirit. It smells beautiful – like snow and wassail and cold nights by the fire with a book. Perfection.

So, leave a comment below and let me know what your favorite oil is! Also, don’t forget to check back here in a few days because I’ll be giving away a free bottle of one of the oils in the list above! 🙂

DIY Christmas Gifts!

Have any of you been sitting there, sipping hot chocolate, trying to come up with ideas of what to buy your friends and family for Christmas this year?

The air is getting chillier (maybe it’s even snowed a few times.)…

…and the brainstorming is beginning. Perhaps with a feeling of sadness as you consider the gifts you want to buy, but can’t quite afford.

(Yes, yes, I realize that it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but it’s always good not to be rushing around like a crazy person on Christmas Eve, right?)

Well, I have a solution for your pre-Christmas-gift depression, and guess where I discovered it! You’ve got it – PINTEREST. (I know, mind blowing, right?)

Thus, joy comes back to my thoughts of Christmas, as I consider all the low cost, do-it-yourself, healthy, from-the-heart options I suddenly have at my fingertips!

So, I thought, why not share some of my favorite DIY recipes that I’ve found? Christmas, after all, is a time for spreading good cheer! So what if I’m starting my cheer a little earlier than most?

So, without further ado, here are my favorite recipes!

Peppermint Candy Cane Sugar Scrub
Natural Room Spray
Lime Mint Foot Soak

Rosemary Mint Shaving Cream
Hot Chocolate Mix {while this doesn’t include essential oils, why not gift your friend or family member with a small bottle of peppermint to go along with their hot chocolate? It’s delicious!}
Homemade Peppermint Liqueur  {She mentions some links for oils on Amazon, but I do NOT recommend those brands. It is very dangerous to ingest oils that are not 100% Therapeutic Grade. Young Living is the only brand I recommend. So pull out your Young Living 100% Therapeutic Grade essential oil and add that to the recipe instead!}

And lastly, here are a few recipes from my mom’s blog:

Lotion
Bath Soaks
Roll-On Lip Gloss
How to Make Unique Gift Baskets!

I hope y’all have enjoyed these and if you have any favorite DIY recipes that I haven’t listed here, please feel free to share them with me in the comments! I am always on the look-out for more; and really, can one make too many wonderful, beautiful things?

So Merry (early) Christmas, Ma Chérie! Oh, and a happy Thanksgiving too. 😉

Holiday Wassail

Is there anything NOT wonderful about Autumn? Okay, besides the fact that here in Illinois the Japanese Beetles decide that our house seems like a delightful place to live. Or the fact that snow is just around the corner. Besides all that.

One of my favorite things about Autumn is all the baking! Those who know me well know that being in the kitchen isn’t something I usually love, but Autumn is the exception. I bake pies and tarts and custards and loaves of bread. I whip up cranberry sauces and hot beverages! I love the smell, taste, and look of food in Autumn. “So, why not,” I asked myself, “make something Autumnly delicious (yes, I made that word up) with essential oils?” So I did. It’s a recipe I actually discovered directly from Young Living. Mhmmmm!

Whip it up, heat it up, pour it out, and watch the world become  a little brighter and  happier with each sip.

wassail.jpgYoung Living Holiday Wassail

Ingredients:

6 c. Apple Cider/Apple Juice
2 c. Pineapple Juice
5 drops Clove Essential Oil
5 drops Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil
5 drops Tangerine Essential Oil (Citrus Fresh can also be used)

Optional Ingredients:
(Try one or a mixture of any of the below)

4 Tbsp. Dried Wolfberries
1-2 Slique Tea Bags
2 oz. NingXia Red
2 drops Nutmeg Essential Oil
2 drops Ginger Essential Oil

oils.jpgDirections:

Add all ingredients to a 3-quart pot. Turn stove to medium/high and heat until hot. Serve and enjoy!
{For added benefit, set the post to simmer to keep your home smelling festive throughout the day. You may need to add 1-2 drops of additional oils if the mixture stays on the burner for many hours—as you are essentially diffusing these ingredients into the air.}

It’s absolutely delicious! My younger siblings begged for more and more. I will definitely be making this recipe all winter! 🙂

Got Blemishes?

There are few things more annoying than waking up in the morning and noticing a blemish. Especially when you’re out of your teens and “that part” of life is {supposed to be} OVER. So what do I do about it?

1381569_10151756400832832_422330151_n

LAVENDER. My favorite. It works wonders! Just put a drop directly on your blemish{es} as often as you’d like!

PURIFICATION. This is an oil blend, so a mixture of several different oils including Tea Tree oil. Just dab a little directly on your blemish, and continue to do so morning and evening until it is gone!

FRANKINCENSE. Again, you can put this directly on your problem area. Frankincense has skin rejuvenation power through promoting good cell growth. I swear by it. {it’s also AMAZING for getting rid of and preventing scarring.}

LEMON. This oil is outstanding because it dissolves sebum, kills bacteria, and preserves the acid mantle of the skin! Again, this can be applied directly to blemish as well.

GERANIUM OIL: It is one of the easy-to-try remedies for acne. Germanium oil is not only anti-bacterial, but also anti-inflammatory. It will soothe pus-filled blemishes and help get rid of them soon.

Other Young Living options for Acne/Blemish treatment (or just products that are great for your face!) are, ESSENTIAL BEAUTY SERUM and the A.R.T SKIN CARE SYSTEM. I’ve never used the Beauty Serum, but I’ve had friends who have used it and love it.

I have, however, personally used the A.R.T system and let me tell you, it is AMAZING. Definitely worth the money, and it leaves your skin feeling refreshed and supple. Instead of zapping your face of any moisture whatsoever, you feel replenished and clean. I love it!

So, basically, there are lots of different options from Young Living when it comes to blemish treatment! And let’s be honest, this is something that a LOT of us struggle with. I am so thankful to have found so many essential oils that not only get rid of these annoying blemishes, but in doing so, it helps me feel more  beautiful and confident.

I hope this helps y’all! And, if you have any additional questions, remember to feel free to leave a comment or email me privately at simplyromantique@gmail.com ! I’d love to hear from you! 🙂

Fitness & Essential Oils

So, I started Pilates recently and I’ve been LOVING it. I’ve been trying various fitness routines for years and there was nothing I enjoyed as much as this. It doesn’t take long (unless you want it to.), it feels great and then there’s that great feeling when you get to the point where you don’t feel sore afterward! Wahoo!

photo (8)

Anyway, back to my point – exercise is good for us for sooo many reasons! It improves your mood, boosts energy, helps keep your body strong and healthy, improves your circulation, and so much more.

So, I thought, if exercise keeps my body healthy, how can I add the natural benefits of essential oils and Young Living Products to my exercise regiment? As a lover of all things natural, I am constantly looking for ways to add essential oils to my life. Here are a few things I’ve found to be wonderfully beneficial (and enjoyable) when added to a good fitness routine:

Peppermint – I put a few drops in my water in the morning before working out – it’s refreshing and it is a great wake-up!

Valor – Need some motivation? Dab a few drops of valor on your wrists and/or neck!ningxia red pouring

NingXia Red – Rich in nutrients and antioxidants, it will contribute to your overall health and also supply you with increased energy (NingXia Nitro is basically SUPER NingXia Red. It’s an exciting new product – infused with black tea for a natural energy boost!).

Slique Tea (or Slique Tea Essence) – Treat yourself to a tall glass of this fragrant tea after you’ve completed your daily exercise! It’s formulated with natural ingredients to help support individual weight goals and control feelings of hunger. Okay, it tastes pretty amazing too.

Also, diffusing oils like Believe, Joy, or Transformation while you exercise will lift your spirits and help keep you motivated! And if you feel sore afterward, roll some Deep Relief on those sore muscles!

What about y’all? What oils or Young Living Products do you find helpful with your workout and/or exercise?

Grand Opening Give-Away!!!

giveaway
Hello Darlings!

I am so excited! My new website is up and running and I am well on my way to starting my very own home business, Therapeutically Yours. And, as a special thank you for helping me to spread the word about my new website, I have a give-away for all my blogging friends. But first, let me tell you a bit about the oil I’ll be giving away in this drawing…

Lavender

As with lipstick or cookies, everyone will have their favorite essential oil – mine happens to be Young Living Therapeutic Grade Lavender essential oil. I use it for something nearly every day. It has so many amazing uses! For healing, for beautifying, for cleansing, and even for its delightful scent! Here are just a few of it’s amazing benefits:

l

Sore Muscles
A warm soak in a luxurious bath with a few drops of Lavender infused in a handful ofEpsom salt is excellent for strained or sore muscles. As the relaxing scent wafts through the bathroom, it will quiet your body and your busy mind. Don’t worry, gentleman can use it too!

Acne
Lavender is one of the most valuable oils for the treatment of acne because it inhibits bacteria that may cause the skin infection and it reduces scarring! What lady (or gentleman) doesn’t want to look their very best? Those little (or big) breakouts can cause far too many tears and stress. I just apply a drop or two to problem areas on my skin and watch it work like magic! My skin used to make me miserable – now that I’m using Lavender on the problem areas, I feel so much more confident and happy!

Stress
Add 5 drops of Lavender to a hot foot bath and relax while you’re feet soak. The molecules of essential oils are so tiny that they can penetrate the skin and enter the blood stream, so their stress-relieving properties get to the heart of the problem right away! This is perfect for a homemade spa treatment – so invite your sisters or a few friends to join you!

Anti-Bacterial
Lavender helps heal cuts and scrapes due to its antibacterial properties. Just the other day, I went to get a pedicure and the woman doing it decided that ripping off my cuticle was a good idea. It bled (and hurt!) a LOT and by the time I got home, it wasblack, purple and swollen. The next day, it was starting to look infected, so I put a few drops of Young Living Therapeutic Grade Lavender on the troubled spot. The following day, I added Purification to my regiment. By the following day, it was looking much better, and just a day days later, the skin had returned to normal!

Eczema
Massage a few drops of lavender oil, along with a little coconut oil (or Young Living’s Rose Ointment) into dry, itchy skin.

Insomnia
When I can’t sleep, I put 2-3 drops of lavender on the bottoms of my feet. I also like to add a few drops of lavender to water in a spray bottle, and spray it on my pillow as well!

Menstrual Cramps
Massage a few drops of lavender into your lower abdomen and apply a hot compress to the area.

Burns
That awful moment when you touch that pan that just came out of the oven or spill boiling soup on your arm – Lavender is suddenly your best friend! Just put some drops on the burn and feel the soothing relief in a matter of moments. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve burned myself and Lavender has always come to my rescue!

Basically this oil has MANY wonderful uses!  I don’t know how I ever lived without it! So, Ma chère, keep Lavender on hand – for beauty and health emergencies! That lovely little bottle contains a world of possibilities.

To get started using therapeutic grade essential oils with your family, I recommend purchasing our Premium Starter Kit! This way, you’ll enjoy wholesale prices all the time!
